FormPort is a small electronic device that connects to any standard PCL laser printer, creating a bridge between your data and the laser printer. it will store form templates, fonts, images and graphics that will build a complete business form.

Basically, FormPort monitors the data stream for data representative of the variable information printed onto dot-matrix devices such as invoices or statements. FormPort intercepts and massages the data based on a given set of rules resident within its memory. These "rules" are instructions of what to do with the data, which electronic form to select and what additional images or graphics need to be merged to complete the printed page.

FormPort can instruct the printer to print multiple copies, realizing all the benefits of multipart, preprinted forms, without the cost or inconvenience of their long-term storage. It is also able to select from a wide range of fonts such as the MICR and Barcode fonts.

REFRESHING YOUR LEGACY APPLICATIONS

One of the most powerful features is the ability to re-map existing data streams without reprogramming the original applications. Organizations can replace outdated line-printed documents with modern versions, significantly enhancing their corporate image with very little effort.

The flexible data re-mapping facility offers an open-ended opportunity to update an entire company's forms, without worrying about matching up the original data stream sequence. Multipart sets are ideally suited to this treatment since each page can be tailored to include specific information.

CENTRAL MANAGEMENT MADE EASY

Automatic global updating of forms helps to ensure that the current version is always available. It works by maintaining a central library of constantly used elements. Whenever any of these elements changes, such as a logo, all of the forms which include this element are automatically updated.

CONDITIONAL PROCESSING

The use of conditional processing based on the data stream delivers real opportunities for productivity and cost savings. By setting conditional statements, FormPort not only selects the right form, but also the correct address details as part of the overlay. This powerful feature minimizes manual intervention while producing significant savings in preprinted personalized stationary.

CHECK PRINTING

FormPort is the perfect Check Printing solution for applications that use pre-MICR encoded paper stock. FormPort not only adds the relevant MICR information, it takes full advantage of the MICR related features offered by many PCL MICR printers.

JOB DEFINITION

FPM/2 is the PC software which define how forms and images are stored and processed. Any form/image created by a commercial Word Processor or Form Design program is acceptable as long as it is in PCL or PCX format.

FPM/2 defines which data elements should appear and the mechanism by which each form should be triggered. This process is referred to as application development. The completed instruction set is downloaded into FormPort. In its nonvolatile memory, each FormPort unit stores those forms, images and logos which have been defined. FormPort monitors all incoming data and when a match is found, the data is processed and printed.

FORMPORT II is the standard model with a memory ; 512 KB, expandable to 2.5 MB (Maximum) and available in Parallel or Serial options. This offers the most cost-effective per printer solution to the demands of desktop electronic forms printing. It is normally used to drive printers up to 24 pages per minute.

FORMPORT II Plus is the high performance model with 512 KB, expandable to 2.5 MB (maximum) and available in Parallel or Serial options.

With its enhanced programming capacity FORMPORT II Plus is designed to work with larger and more complex applications. The ability to drive printers up to 60 pages per minute makes it ideal for high speed, high volume printing.
